On Vacation
As our first session as English teachers draws to a close, we have set our sights on our two week vacation. What will we do? Where will we go? Suddenly, the whole of South America looms large in front of us. (well, not exactly the whole, we haven´t really been considering a trip to Colombia)My brother Ryan and his girlfriend, Meghan, are headed to Máncora, Peru, so we´ve decided to spend the first part of our two week vacation there. Máncora is a beautiful beach where the waves are huge and the surfing fantastic. (Or if you talk to the local Gualceños or those from the coast of Ecaudor, it´s a very ugly beach smack in the middle of the desert.) Either way, we´re about to see for ourselves. We´re eager for a trip to any beach to relax and play in the water.
We are leaving this afternoon and plan to make our way down the Andes by bus, stopping in a few places in southern Ecuador before we take another bus to Peru on Sunday. After Máncora, the rest of our two week vacation stretches before us like an empty canvas awaiting splashes and streaks of color. We will either head to Patagonia to hike, or if the price of airline tickets thwarts us, we will head down to Machu Pichu for hiking and sun worshipping.
Blog posts may be few and far bewteen for the next two weeks, but we promise tales of our adventures and new photos upon our return.
Happy Easter and enjoy spring break, those of you who are involved in scholarly pursuits, teaching or studying.
